We have always sought to encourage girls of all ages to play cricket. We have welcomed many over the years who have been happy to join mixed practice sessions and teams. Some have gone on to area and county representative honours.
For a few years we were able to work with former England international and world cup winner, Lydia Greenway, and her CricketForGirls team. We are delighted that our girls’ coach, Megan Belt, has gone on to represent Kent, Oval Invincibles and South East Stars.
However, we recognise that we have not yet achieved as much as we would like. In the short-term we continue to encourage girls to be involved in mixed training and games sessions. We also intend to run a girl-specific stream as part of our 15+ masterclasses, delived by head coach, Peter Cavender, who is formerly Kent U13 girls and Emerging Spitfires performance coach.
Eventually, we expect to offer a full suite of mixed and girl-specific activites across all ages.
