We had hoped to launch our Young Leaders programme in 2020 and even held an intro session at our awards evening that January but had to put on hold for obvious reasons.
Young Leaders is aimed at 14-16 year-olds primarily and aims to instill commitment to developing leadership skills and aptitudes alongside introduction to relevant cricket based competences such as coaching, groundwork and umpiring through a series of short courses delivered locally. It also involves teambuilding and business skills as planning and execution of a team fundraising project is the grand finale.
It is scheduled around well-understood exam commitments (when relevant) and represents a few hours a week for 3-4 months.
Young Leaders is an accredited programme and recognised alongside Duke of Edinburgh as a valuable higher education application qualification. It can also be the start of a cricket coaching career and naturally leads on to our coach development programme at 16.
